THE STATE OF WORTHING Don’t dream it, be it Having vision takes guts. Taking your passion and translating it, putting it out there for other people to discover, judge and comment upon can be scary. PHOTO: ABI ELSE THIS MONTH A GROUP OF FIFTEEN AND SIXTEEN year olds exhibit their work at Colonnade House, part of Durrington High School’s impressive 100% pass rate year on year for Art & Design. Elsewhere in our town we’ve got new bars springing up like The Whisk(e)y Rooms, new eateries like Pitch, new projects like Neptune’s Larder, exhibitions like Hut which take trash and turn it into recycled treasure. Worthing Pride returns for a second year, bigger and brighter than ever, while later this year Tide of Light returns after a year off. All these events, and many many more, are built on the hopes and imaginations of local people, the dreamers, the risk takers who gambled and hoped it might pay off. We’re proud that they call Worthing home. Let’s celebrate them this month. THE GRIZZLY BEAR THE OLD BAKEHOUSE Let’s go to Tarring! IF YOU’VE EVER WHILED AWAY the day waiting for the lights to change at West Worthing crossing (so famous it even has its own FB page!), then here’s our pick of better things to do with your time in Tarring. k Go old school with a pint and a (tricky) pub quiz at the George & Dragon, or pop in to The Grizzly Bear and say hi to Jack the bartender k Locals swear by the trad tapas and Spanish small talk at Rincon de Pepe k Enjoy vintage tea sets, delicious cakes and maybe an impromptu song at The Old Bake House k Grab coffee and a freshly baked bun while you wait for the train at South by West Worthing k Grow your own and get some fresh air at the community gardening plot at the Triangle in Tarring Park.
