DEANSHANGER LIBRARY IS SAVED<br />
The threat of the library closure in October 2017,<br />
saw the people of Deanshanger sign petitions<br />
and send letters to Northampton County Council.<br />
Andrea Leadsom, MP, attended a successful<br />
showcase day and Deanshanger Primary School<br />
children made a video and wrote letters pleading<br />
for it to remain open.<br />
Justice Yipp at the judicial court review found<br />
in favour of in the villagers. The NCC proposed<br />
that Friends of Deanshanger Library take over<br />
the management by purchasing or leasing the<br />
building as well as paying the running costs.<br />
The council will continue to supply self-service<br />
machines and computer library management<br />
system. The Friends of Deanshanger Library<br />
fought NCC, without help from the parish council<br />
to save the library. You can enjoy books with a<br />
reading group, rhyme time, knit and natter and<br />
creative writing run for the community by the<br />

intu is a community group that works in 4<br />
community gardens in Central Milton Keynes.<br />
You can improve your health and well-being<br />
while volunteering with the fun and varied<br />
activities. You’ll also learn new skills, like<br />
woodworking, tree planting and gardening<br />
while meeting friendly people and making a<br />
difference to the local area and people.<br />
An experienced leader will explain everything<br />
so whatever your experience or ability there is<br />
an activity for you. They include building bird<br />
boxes, planting, painting benches, putting up<br />
trellises, weeding, cutting back vegetation and<br />
more. Tools/equipment are provided so no<br />
excuses!<br />
Tea and coffee is provided during the break<br />
and it’s all free, go along to try a session as<br />
there’s no commitment. On the fourth session<br />
all volunteers get a free Green Gym t-shirt too.<br />
