Benidorm
number two
in Spain
A recently published survey
from a major travel website
by Andy Mansell
suggests that Benidorm is
still as popular as ever with
holidaymakers from within
Spain.
TripAdvisor, questioned
1500 Spanish users of their
website to compile the survey
entitled Summer Holidays in
2019.
The news is a welcome boost
to worried tourism bosses in
the resort, concerned following
a disappointing start to the
crucial Summer season.
Ninety five per cent of the
people surveyed said they were
planning to take a Summer
vacation this year, compared to
91.5% who took them last year.
Tenerife came in at top spot
for the 39% of travellers who
intend to take their holidays in
Spain, with Benidorm in a close
second, followed by Mallorca.
Those who are planning
a trip to the Costa Blanca’s
most popular destination
praised Benidorm for, “its great
beaches, its long boardwalks
and its vertical architecture”.
In addition, to its “immense”
coast and its varied gastronomic
offerings, the potential visitors
were impressed by the varied
inland attractions near to
Benidorm and the opportunity
to discover hidden places,
such as the Fonts de l’Algar
andGuadalest.
The majority of travellers
will book for two weeks
(35.5%) and will have a budget
of between 1,000 and 3,000
euros per person, including
transportation, accommodation,
leisure and restaurants, with the
latter taking 20-40% of that
budget.
August is the month in
which most of the respondents
have planned to travel, with
36%, followed by July (25%),
and September (22%), while
June is the month in which
fewer Spaniards will enjoy their
summer vacations (17.5%).
compete to win a prize for the best
