the world’s highest paid athlete,
earning $127m in the past 12
months, according to the Forbes
top 100 rankings.
Ex-Real Madrid and now Juventus
forward Cristiano Ronaldo
is second on $109m with
Messi´s ex-Barca teammate,
Neymar of Paris St-Germain, in
third on $105m.
Last year’s highest earner,
boxer Floyd Mayweather, has
dropped off the list.
Serena Williams is the only
woman in the top 100, earning
$29.2m.
Five-time Formula 1 world
champion Lewis Hamilton and
former heavyweight world champion
Anthony Joshua are the
highest earning British athletes,

An exciting finish
between four riders
in the Italian MotoGP
at the start of the
month and the firstever
win for Italy´s
Danilo Petrucci has
teed things up nicely
as the championships
return to Spain
for this Sunday´s
Catalunya Grand
Prix.
Despite coming
second in Italy,
Spain´s world
champion Marc
Marquez extended
his lead in the
standings to 12 points
over Petrucci´s
Ducati teammate
Andrea Dovizioso.
Ferrari’s Sebastian
Vettel believes
Formula 1 has lost
its way, in the wake of
the penalty that cost him
victory in Sunday´s Canadian
Grand Prix.
The four-time champion
won on the road but
was handed a five-second
penalty for rejoining the

impeding Mercedes’
Lewis Hamilton.

TOUGH TASK AHEAD
Villajoyosa CF(pictured
before kick-off) have a
mountain to climb if they´re
to get promoted to the Valencian
Regional Third division,
after losing the first leg of
their Preferente play-off final,
four-one at UD Beniganim.
Beniganim were four up
after an hour, with Martin´s
strike ten minutes from time,
giving Villajoyosa some hope
ahead of the return home leg
this Saturday at 6.30 pm.
There are no worries for
Alicante side, CF Intercity,
who thrashed CD Onda fournil
in their away leg, and like
Villajoyosa, host the second
leg tomorrow at 6.30 pm.
