State Mines, 8 th June 2019- Captains Report
Our change of date and making the Sate Mines game a afternoon field paid dividends.
Sunny reasonably warm day, a contrast to the rain and cold. My fourball consisted of
the long-standing club captain, 1) Jan Delport, and an interesting day was spent with
him showing us the changes to course that have taken place in the last year, 2) Brian
Rees our sponsor for the (in a personal capacity) and 3) NJVC Neill Malherbe. It really
does make one very proud to be part of an organisation that has people like Brian Rees
as a member. A true gentleman that carries Nomads in his heart. He is a pleasure to play
with and could quite easily be used as an example of what we stand for. Thank you Brian.
A duty I enjoy as captain is the handing out of awards to members. It was great giving
Mike Lekhuleni and Dave Diesel their 200 game badges. Well done gentlemen. On a sad
note, having to bid long time national sponsor and Easterns member Phil Michaux, farewell
was disappointing. However Phil is transferring to Southern Cape and is not lost to
Nomads. I don’t have enough space here to extoll the virtues of what Phil has done for
Nomads but we wish him and his family many happy years in Knysna..
Congratulations to all the winners on the day, putting on those greens was like playing
with mercury.
Thank you to our ladies, Terry and Matthew, as usual, everything ran like clockwork. I
believe Matt has learnt quite a bit from his experience and will be putting it to good use
with SAMSON in the future. Good luck to the guys playing the Diamond Challenge
against Botswana on the 6 th and 7 th July at Sun City.
Next game is Ebotse on 14 th July AM so dress warmly. Please diarise the Memorial day
at Pollak Park a week later.

We wish to Thank our National Sponsors

Prospective Members

Thank you to Gavin for starting with the two tee starters, Geoff Fairhurst
and our newest Nomad, Scott Skinner. You all did a sterling job!
The game ran smoothly. Thank you to State Mines and the staff for all
the help, during the day!
A very special thank you to Matthew for helping me at the table for the
game!
I was showing him the ropes, as he will be running the July game, together
with my very capable ladies, as I will be in Australia during this
time! Save the drama for August game when I am back guys!
Please can I ask you all to enter and pay timeously, as I will be running
the game by remote from Melbourne! I hope that you have an enjoyable
game at Ebotse!
