Hemerocallis (Daylilies)
Your Trusted Daylily Source
Walters Gardens is committed to providing our customers with true to
name plants. We are concerned about variability in daylilies from tissue
culture, both in flowering performance and in overall characteristics. For this
reason, all of the daylilies we offer are grown from field divisions. You can
be confident that our true vegetative stock will deliver a consistent, uniform
performance. All of our daylilies are pest resistant and free of daylily rust.
Trimmed Roots
We trim the roots of all daylilies before they are shipped. In our trials,
trimming the roots did not set the plants back at all and in some cases,
trimming actually resulted in increased rooting. Trimmed roots are also
faster for our customers to pot up, weigh less in shipping, and result in less
waste.
Premium Daylilies
Our top 20 Daylily Varieties.
Customers looking for guidance selecting top daylilies, look
no further than our premium varieties. Each of our premium daylilies has
been trialed, studied, and observed for a minimum of 6-10 years by our
experienced Daylily Growers. The very best of each color class.
Chris Meyer
Walters Gardens daylily hybridizer Chris Meyer
became interested in hybridizing daylilies in the
early 1990s when he made the initial cross that
eventually resulted in the introduction of the popular
Hemerocallis ‘Going Bananas’. We are now proud to
offer ‘Elegant Explosion’ and ‘Orange Smoothie’ as
well, with four more varieties officially introduced
this year! Look for ‘Hungry Eyes’, ‘Inkheart’,
‘Raspberry Eclipse’, and ‘Sound of my Heart’ in this
catalog, with more to come in the future.
