Year 10 Briars Trip In May Christ the King took 49 students from Year 10 to The Briars Catholic Youth Retreat Centre. This was a great chance for them to enjoy themselves and explore their faith during a stressful period of time for them. They didn’t quite know what to expect, all we had told them was they were going to have a week of questioning and looking deeper into their faith, whilst also having the most amazing week of their life full of fun, great memories and hopefully a better relationship with God. We arrived and were greeted very kindly by The Briars Team who made everyone feel welcomed and happy before we went in. This would be a sign of things to come as the week was a neverending time of joy. From start to finish the smiles never left the young people’s faces, whether it was the team building games at the start of the week or the talent show/disco at the end of the week. It was a fun filled journey and a great time to relax. Overall, the retreat met our aims and goals that we wanted to see. We wanted the young people to feel better about being themselves and be more comfortable in their own skin. By the end of the week there was not a single person leaving The Briars without a massive smile on their face. They left with things every chaplain could only dream of, they left feeling 100 times happier, they left with a renewed faith in Jesus and last, but not least, new friendships and connections with people they would never have thought of having at CtK. The young people were a credit to the school and their families, everyone on that retreat deserves all the thanks and praise. What a week!
