Listening Party: Beneath the Surface by Aren Drift This may be an EP, but in its scope Beneath the Surface by Aren Drift is absolutely EPic. NOT IN THE MODERN, co-opted car insurance, internet gaming form of Epic, but a proper, belting, blockbuster Epic – in a mere four tracks. CREDIT: KATERINA TUMOVA The music soars above, like some majestic, legendary bird; you leap to grab hold of its feet, and you are sent flying with it. The perfectly melded guitars, bass, drums and vocals are like a winter chill to the face, slapping you with monster thumping riffs and lyrics. If Beneath the Surface were a film, then it would be a meticulously directed saga, each part in its rightful place, shade and light in perfect unison, the perfect length. AREN DRIFT ARE: AREN (RADKA NEMCOVA), VOCALIST, BACKING GUITAR, SONGWRITER, PRODUCER; MATT PLUMLEY, LEAD GUITAR; DOMINIC CALLIHANE, DRUMS; THEO CORCORAN, BASS Yes, if it was a film then you would need to watch it; but instead, watch Aren Drift, whenever you next get a chance, and listen to this EP, before they hit it big. n Joe Bunn 28 | August 2019 | HERE & NOW ADVERTISE NOW 01903 686100
