ages where the iconic DH Mosquito<br />

was designed and the prototype<br />

built, and where it is on display<br />

Terrific Tuesday Fun<br />

Every Tuesday in Bucks School<br />

holidays is a Terrific Tuesday at<br />

Chiltern Open Air Museum. These<br />

are themed craft and activity<br />

days organised by the Museum’s<br />

Learning Team. The themes over<br />

the summer months are on the<br />

elements: earth, air, fire, water<br />

and element of surprise. Activities<br />

include pond dipping, glass painting,<br />

clay pot making, bubble painting,<br />

storytelling, build your own bug<br />

crafts and lots more. Each week<br />

has completely different activities<br />

and all activities are included within<br />

the Museum’s standard admission<br />

price or free to Annual Pass holders!<br />

Everyday throughout the summer<br />

holidays there will be an outdoor<br />

games trail, every weekend will<br />

have a special living history or<br />

re-enactment event and on every<br />

Thursday in August there will be<br />

drop in straw plaiting sessions.<br />

Welwyn History at Mill Green<br />

The centre for Welwyn Hatfield's<br />

history is Mill Green Museum. With<br />

its mellow redbrick cottages set on<br />

the River Lea, the museum offers<br />

an enjoyable and informative day<br />

out. Visit an atmospheric working<br />

watermill, learn about local history or<br />

simply enjoy a picnic or cream tea in<br />

its beautiful gardens. Tunnel through<br />

time to the world of the Romans at<br />

Welwyn Roman Baths. Ingeniously<br />

preserved in an steel vault under the<br />

A1(M) see the unique remains of a<br />

Roman bathing suite. Once part of<br />

a fine villa, the layout is remarkably<br />

preserved as a fine example of Roman<br />

life in the third century AD.<br />
