Margo Ray is a visual artist who engages in printmaking, collage, and installation. She holds an MFA
from Concordia University in Montrèal, Quebec and a BA in Studio Arts from University of Hawai‘i, Hilo.
She was raised on Hawai‘i Island and has had the opportunity to travel internationally throughout her life,
exposing her to art making practices outside of the Western tradition. Her works have been exhibited in
venues such as Hui No‘eau, Second Street Gallery (Charlottesville, VA), The Honolulu Museum of Art at
First Hawaiian Center (Honolulu, HI), Parisian Laundry (Montrèal, QC) and most recently at The Lancaster
Museum of Art and History (Lancaster, CA). margoray.com
Contemporary Mixed Media Collage Techniques
Saturday & Sunday, 2 days
November 16 & 17 / 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Bring ideas and images that inspire and speak to you! In this workshop, we will work on canvas and
paper, learning collage techniques, layering transparent and textured papers, stenciling, and incorporating
photographic and digitally generated images. Materials will include acrylic matte medium, gouache paint,
various papers to experiment with layering, and ink jet print images on kozo paper. By the end of the
workshop, you will have gained a greater understanding of collage techniques and how to successfully
combine paper with canvas and how to apply these techniques to future art projects in your home studio.

JENNIFER ROBERTS ALMODOVA

Jennifer Roberts Almodova is a painter, sculptor, and ceramic artist with
thirty years of experience teaching both private students and at the university
level. She is best recognized for her watercolor painting and her signature
style of evocative color, subtle luminosity, and masterful brushwork. She is a
full-time faculty member of the Fine Art Department at the Academy of Art
University in San Francisco. Jennifer exhibits and sells internationally and her
work is featured in collections across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Flowers in the Round:
Designing and Painting Tropical Wreaths in Watercolor

December 7 / 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Inspired by the lei po‘o, haku, or Hawaiian head lei, you’ll design and paint
your very own flower wreath, derived from a single blossom and bud. This
class will give you the skills to create a beautiful, festive, and Hawai‘i-inspired
tropical wreath watercolor painting. Bring your favorite flowers, foliage,
seeds, shells, or feathers to class (or some will be provided for you). Flower
and object meanings, symbolism, composition, and color schemes will also
be explored. While students may not finish their entire painting during class,
everyone will be ready to keep painting on their own. Prerequisite: Basic
drawing skills
