Hummel enjoyed creating lasting memories through his portraiture work, including those of pets, caricatures and renderings of buildings. Not only was he well known for the incredible likeness of his art to its subjects, he was equally accomplished in music. Hummel began singing and entertaining in his teens and gained quite a bit of celebrity with his band Rainbow Canyon’s hit, “Franklin County Woman,” recorded in 1977. With his beloved hometown always in his heart, Hummel often referenced Grove City in his music and recordings. Recruiting his wife JoAnn to join the show in later years, “Cowboy and Jojo” continued entertaining for 20 years. The exhibit is open to the public weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or by appointment by calling Tami Kelly, clerk of council at 614-277-3065. www.columbusmessenger.com “A Ballad of Familiar Faces” art exhibit on display at City Hall The Grove City Art Concern was founded in 1991 and sponsored by Grove City Council.
