Amber’s platform is Operation<br />
Overload: A Confidential College<br />
Briefing, where she helps youth<br />
through the college application process<br />
helping students meet their full<br />
potential and realize opportunities<br />
that are out there for further education<br />
and career planning.<br />
Anna’s platform is Project Blue<br />
Light, which is an organization that<br />
keeps the memory of fallen officers<br />
alive. Her uncle, Chad Mechels, was<br />
a police officer that was killed in the<br />
line of duty, so this is near and dear<br />
to her heart.<br />
The <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Fair</strong><br />
will celebrate the crowning of<br />
a new Miss <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Fair</strong><br />
at the <strong>State</strong> <strong>Fair</strong>grounds in Huron.<br />
The pageant, a preliminary to the<br />
Miss <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> program is open<br />
to young women ages 17 to 24.<br />
In addition, a teen competition<br />
will also be held during the pageant.<br />
Miss <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> Outstanding<br />
Teen is open to young ladies between<br />
13 and 17 years old.<br />
Two titles are open for Miss —<br />
Miss <strong>State</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> and Miss Wheel Jam<br />
and two titles are open for Teen —<br />
Miss <strong>State</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> Outstanding Teen<br />
and Miss Wheel Jam Outstanding<br />
Teen.<br />
The Current Miss <strong>State</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> and<br />
Miss <strong>State</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> Outstanding Teen<br />
will reign over the fair with crown<br />
and sash until Monday, Sept. 3.<br />
The new title holders will be “in<br />
waiting” wearing only their sash and<br />
will regin during the 2019 <strong>South</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong><br />
<strong>State</strong> <strong>Fair</strong>.<br />
Contestants will arrive on Friday<br />
by 6 p.m. Interviews will be held on<br />
Saturday morning. Host homes will<br />
be provided to contestants if needed.<br />
