Te Ana Marina comes alive with dogs
about the
filming of a
children’s
show in
development
FRIENDLY DOGS and happy
families – it’s a pretty magical
combination and it’s what the
Fanimals TV show is all about.
And now the children’s show
What Now is coming to Lyttelton
on September 8 too.
The show will be broadcast
live from Te Ana Marina on
September 8 from 8am, and
the crew is as excited about this
event as the residents. Lyttelton
resident Reuben Davidson is the
series producer and said this is
a time to showcase all the local
dogs and their families.
There will be a prize for
Lyttelton’s top dog, as well as
prizes for the best dressed,
biggest and smallest dogs. This
will be a lot of fun and a fierce
competition, but it will also be
a chance for us to show off our
Navigational safety officer
Gary Manch delivers his
first Pirate’s Corner column
of the boating season
WELL I SAW my first spring
lamb the other day.
It seemed a bit cold for the
wee bugger, but it looked happy
enough. Hopefully it will end up
as someone’s pet and not on the
barbecue. Seeing the lamb made
me think that with spring on the
way, so is the boating season.
Some of you may have been
boating during winter, the hardy
ones anyway, but for the rest
of you I am sure the boat has
been tucked away and you are
thinking about bringing it out
soon.
beautiful marina to the rest of
New Zealand.
This adds to the great news that
The Woolstore at the marina is
the latest investment by Richard
Before you go out on the
water, here are some tips to
make sure that when you go out,
you come home safely.
•Get your boat serviced by
either a boat shop or someone
who is competent.
•Check all your safety gear,
such as radios, lifejackets,
first aid kits, torches, flares,
anchors and chains, and ropes.
Make sure they are all in good
condition and fit for purpose,
check the expiry dates and
replace as necessary.
•Have a look at the local
Navigation Safety Bylaws and
make sure you understand the
rules for the area you are going
to use your boat in.
•Think about doing a
Peebles, who is starting to
develop this beautiful building
into retail and hospitality.
It is a beautiful spot
with waterfront access and
Check your boat before taking it out in the spring
Pirate’s Corner
Coastguard New Zealand
boating safety course.
•Check your boat trailer
and make sure it’s in good
condition and has a warrant of
overlooking the marina and will
be a wonderful home for new
business and visitors.
So come along to Te
Ana Marina and enjoy the
fitness and registration.
•Make sure your boat is
displaying identification as
required by part 20 of the
Navigation Safety Bylaw 2016.
environment and the fun of the
show. Celebrate our port town
and the residents and dogs which
make it such a special part of our
region.
•Lastly, remember it can still
get cold, so make sure you have
plenty of warm clothing and
waterproof gear. And always
check the weather before going
out.
Follow these tips and you
should be ready to go. You will
see our enforcement officers out
at the boat ramps throughout
the season, stop and say hi, and
if you have any questions, they
will be more than happy to
assist.
