PERRY<br />
Ethel (Eve) Perry entered her heavenly<br />
home on Sept. 2, <strong>2019</strong>, at the age of 87. Eve<br />
was the daughter of the late Steven and<br />
Anna Vass, who immigrated from Hungary.<br />
She was preceded in death by: siblings,<br />
Steve Vass, William Vass, Helen Boggs,<br />
Elizabeth Coch, James Vass, and Baby<br />
Alex. She is fondly remembered by many<br />
nieces and nephews.<br />
Eve was an avid outdoor enthusiast and<br />
loved camping, fishing and gardening with<br />
her late husband, Norman Perry. She was<br />
the loving and cherished mother of Cindy<br />
Skidmore and the late Larry Martin. Eve<br />
treasured the memories created with her<br />
grandchildren, Carly (Travis) Wiltshire,<br />
Erin Martin, Zach (Debby) Skidmore, Taylor<br />
(Mallory) Skidmore, and the late<br />
Matthew Martin. She loved spending time<br />
with her great-grandchildren, Caleb Wilt-<br />

HARRINGTON<br />
Robert Edward Harrington passed away peacefully on Sept. 3,<br />
<strong>2019</strong>. Robert is survived by: his wife, Barbara Christine (Stegall);<br />
his children, Catherine Lee Harrington, Christina Lee McKenna<br />
and Robert Lee Harrington (Shelly); his grandchildren, Patrick<br />
McKenna, Meredith McClay, William McKenna, Jacob Fent, Rylee<br />
Harrington and Lindsay Harrington; siblings, Patti Miller, Bill<br />
Harrington, Tom Harrington and Pam Jenkins; nieces, nephews,<br />
great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was preceded in<br />
death by his son, Robin Lee Harrington, and grandson, Taylor<br />
Joseph McKenna.<br />
Robert was born in London on May 9, 1937, to Robert Henry and<br />
Elizabeth Harrington. He graduated from Northeastern High<br />
School in 1956 and worked for International Harvester for 30 years,<br />
retiring in 1994. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara<br />
Christine, on July 28, 1956, and they recently celebrated their 63rd<br />
wedding anniversary. He was a lifetime resident of Clark and <strong>Madison</strong><br />
counties. Robert created and ran Harrington softball diamonds<br />
from 1973-1983. Robert coached Babe Ruth baseball, youth football<br />
and adult softball. He was inducted into the Springfield/Clark<br />
County Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016 for his participation on the<br />
1964 WBLY team. He was a career member of Local 402. Robert<br />
enjoyed Nascar, baseball, raising cattle, greyhounds and attending<br />
his granddaughter Rylee’s softball games.<br />
A funeral service was held Sept. 6 at<br />
Eberle-Fisher Funeral Home, London. Interment<br />
followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in<br />
South Charleston. A reception was held at<br />
the Parish Hall in South Charleston.<br />

McCOMAS<br />
Suellen McComas, 71, of Plain City<br />
passed away on Sept. 5, <strong>2019</strong>. She enjoyed<br />
sewing, gardening, cooking for her family,<br />
and was an excellent cake baker.<br />
She was preceded in death by: parents,<br />
George and Josephine Slane; daughter,<br />
Ronda McComas; and brother, Lester Toy.<br />
She is survived by: her loving husband,<br />
Ronald; son, Scott (Missy) McComas; brothers,<br />

Slane; sister, Judy Balaz; grandchildren,<br />

TIER<br />
William R. “Rick” Tier II, 66, of London died on Sept. 3, <strong>2019</strong>, at<br />
the Springfield Regional Medical Center, Springfield. Rick was born<br />
on July 14, 1953, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, a son of William R. Tier<br />
I and Ruth (Martin) Eades. He had owned and operated Rick’s Carryout<br />
and Bait Shop on 56 south of London for most of his life. He<br />
graduated from London High School in 1971 and was an avid fisherman<br />
and hunter.<br />
Rick is survived by: his mother, Ruth (Martin) Eades of London;<br />
sisters, Diana (Sam) Hindman of Lexington, Ky., Mary (Mike) Hopkins<br />
of London; brothers, Darrell (Connie) Eades of London, Doug<br />
(Susan) Eades of West Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews and<br />
many friends. He has been preceded in death by: fathers, William<br />
R. Tier and William T. Eades; brothers, David and Danny Eades.<br />
A celebration of life was set for 3-6 p.m. Sept. at the residence of<br />
Mike and Mary Hopkins. Rick’s arrangements have been entrusted<br />
to Rader-Lynch & Dodds Funeral Home & Cremation Service, London.<br />
GILDOW<br />
Donald Martin Gildow, 72, of Sedalia died on Sept. 5, <strong>2019</strong>, in Doctors<br />
Hospital West. Born on May 11, 1947, in London, he was the son<br />
of Valoris and Mildred (Rihl) Gildow. Don was caretaker for Range<br />
Township, retiring in <strong>2019</strong>. For 45 years, he was on the Range Township<br />
Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as chief for 20<br />
years. A member of the former Leonore Lodge 512 F&AM, Sedalia,<br />
Don also volunteered with the Special Olympics golf team. He will<br />
be remembered as a gentle soul who loved cooking and fishing.<br />
Survivors include: his sons, Charles Gildow and Randy (Meagan)<br />
Gildow; grandson, Miles Gildow; many nieces, nephews and<br />
cousins, including John Hines; and dear friends, Norman Dorn,<br />
Dennis Marshall and David Junk.<br />
A memorial service was set for 4 p.m. Sept. 14 in Eberle-Fisher<br />
Funeral Home and Crematory, London, with Rev. Gordon Ell officiating.<br />

Francene Marie Reed, 72, passed away on Sept. 7, <strong>2019</strong>. She is<br />
survived by: her loving husband, Charles E. Reed; sons, Charles<br />
Clayton Reed and Cole Woodrow Reed; sisters, Marsha, Nina,<br />
Cindy and Sherry; brothers, Barry, Eric and Rick; grandchildren,<br />
Gabrielle, Charles Nathan and Alexis. Funeral services were held<br />
Sept. 10 at Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home, West Jefferson.<br />

Robert Alan Shoaf, 63, passed away peacefully at his childhood<br />
home, Shoaf Farms. He left the farm as the sun was rising, surrounded<br />
by his children on Sept. 9, <strong>2019</strong>. He was preceded in death<br />
by his father, Bernard Shoaf, and his mother, Norma Shoaf. He is<br />
survived by: his children, Tricia Dillion (Brian), Brian Shoaf (Rebekah),<br />
Danielle Wolfe-Magalski (Mike), Justin Shoaf (Elissa) and<br />
Rhesa Yank; sisters, Brenda Hitch, Kathy Shoaf and Sandra Maynard;<br />
brother, Phillip Shoaf; grandchildren, Alex, Rachel, Garek,<br />
Tyler, Leeann, Gavin and Mia; one faithful companion, Foxy; many<br />
friends and a very large extended family throughout <strong>Madison</strong><br />
