Inlaks wins 2019 Best ICT
Infrastructure provider award
INLAKS, ONE of the
fastest-growing ICT infrastructure
and systems integrator
in sub-Saharan Africa,
recently received an award
for innovation and excellence
as the “Best ICT Infrastructure
Provider of the Year” at the
just-concluded joint 2019 Digital
Banking Summit and the Digital
Innovations & Excellence Awards.
The two-day event, on theme
‘Digitisation of Banking Sector –
en route to a cashless Africa,” was
organised by the International
Centre for Strategic Alliances
(ICSA) with KPMG as Knowledge
Partner; First Bank Nigeria as Official
Banking Partner and Master-
Card as a Lead Sponsor.
It also had in attendance officials
of banks, quasi-financial institutions,
and service providers
from the African continent.
Dr Maxwell Opoku-Afari, the
Representatives of Inlaks displaying their awards
First Deputy Governor of the
Bank of Ghana, in his keynote address,
urged stakeholders in the financial
and banking industry to
exploit digitisation to meet the
needs of the unbanked and
broaden services to all segments
of society.
“The adoption of digital technology
in the banking and financial
space will help promote transactional
efficiency in the delivery
of financial services as well as
scale up and broaden financial access
to all segments of the society.
Digital innovation will create unprecedented
opportunities for
Africa to grow its economy, create
jobs, and transform people’s lives,”
he said.
Making a presentation on the
topic ‘Improving Customer Experience
through Digital Retail Banking
Transformation’ at the
Summit, Olufemi Muraino, Executive
Director at Inlaks, said: “traditional
banks must constantly
innovate to stay relevant in the
face of fast-growing technology or
risk losing customers.
“Exceptional customer experience
goes beyond standard online
services; innovation is required because
digitisation never stops. Digital
transformation is a continuous
process; there is no such thing as a
start and a finish,” he added.
Referring to a Global CEO
Survey involving business leaders
across all sectors conducted by
PwC, he said 70% of the leaders
expressed their biggest concerns
about the speed of technological
change in financial services, noting
that the Digital Banking Summit
was indeed a great avenue for
African decision-makers to strategise
and make plans for a better
future.
It should be noted that Inlaks
was also recently awarded “Technology
Solutions Company of the
Year” by the Nigerian Leadership
Award and “Banking Technology
Solutions Provider of the Year” by
the Ghana Information, Technology,
and Telecoms Award
(GITTA) earlier in 2019.
Maintain best quality cocoa production practices
•Nana Karikari Addo, the Acting Managing Director (MD) of
Quality Control Company Limited, says the government is
committed to giving incentive packages to encourage farmers to
produce more
COCOA FARMERS have been
called upon to continue to apply
best farming practices to sustain
the production of quality cocoa
beans for the nation.
“Ghana is among the best
cocoa-producing countries and
we can’t afford to lose our credibility”.
Nana Karikari Addo, the Acting
Managing Director (MD) of
Quality Control Company Limited
(QCCL) of the Ghana
Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), said
this at a farmers’ rally held at
Goaso in the Ahafo Region.
The one-day event jointly organised
by the Cocoa Health Extension
Division (CHED) of
COCOBOD and the QCCL attracted
about 600 cocoa farmers
from the entire region who asked
questions and expressed concerns
about the challenges confronting
them in the production
of the commodity.
Nana Addo said Ghana is second
to La Cote d’ Ivoire, the
highest cocoa producing country,
and the government is committed
to giving incentive packages
to encourage farmers to produce
• QCCL urges farmers
more.
The Acting MD of QCCL
said there was a bill before Parliament
to ensure standard price
stability of cocoa to help reduce
the undue price determination
from the international market.
He said COCOBOD was in
the process of introducing electronic
cocoa-weighing scales to
prevent corrupt purchasing
clerks from cheating farmers.
Nana Addo said “some unscrupulous
purchasing clerks
have adjusted the weighing
scales so as to cheat the cocoa
farmers, hence the introduction
of the electronic scales.”
Nana Kwasi Bosompra I, the
Paramount Chief of Goaso Traditional
Area, who presided over
the event, urged cocoa farmers
to engage the services of Agricultural
Extension Agents
(AEAs) in their farming activities.
