At the workshop which was held at Lancaster University campus at East Legon in Accra, the Chairman of the Board of Open Foundation, Mr Felix Nartey, said the core mission of the foundation is to encourage people to collect, develop and disseminate knowledge, including educational, cultural and historical contents, that allow everyone to freely use, distribute and modify said contents without the payment of royalties. The theme of this year workshop was ‘Using media, language and technology as a tool to advance the open movement” According to Mr Nartey, the open movement is a concept that seeks to make information free and accessible online to help find THE GHANA Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance (GhNCDA has stated that Ghana cannot hope to end its growing non-communicable disease (NCD) epidemic while people struggle to meet the costs of diagnosis, treatment and care. According to the group, nearly half of Ghana’s annual death rate is accounted for by NCDs such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancers and mental health at a time when health care costs keep rising. Dr Beatrice Wiafe-Addai, Chairperson of both GhNCDA and the Ghana Cancer Board, at the meeting ), at a meeting held in Accra, said “if we are to address the health needs of our people, like those living with NCDs, we need to do so by ensuring everyone enjoys quality standards of care and financial protection. In other words, Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Without UHC we cannot end the NCD epidemic.” Mr Christopher Agbegah, representing the community of people living with NCDs, said “Ghana’s health solutions of many of the world’s most pressing problems in a spirit of transparency, collaboration, reuse and free access. Mr Alexander Kodwo Kom Abban, Deputy Minister of Health, lauded the effort of World Health Organisation for having UHC on the global health agenda and that his ministry strongly supported the notion that commitments to make UHC a reality globally going forward will rely on individual governments making the right call at a national level. He said “the Ghana government is committed to implementing UHC and ending the NCD epidemic in our country.” The meeting was attended by government representatives, civil society organisations, UN Country Representative, traditional and religious leaders, and international and local nongovernmental organisations. Foundation workshop was organised for 40 participants from the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana Institute of Journalism and Ashesi University. Copyright Mr Nartey made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to take legal action against people who use someone’s intellectual property without the owner’s approval. “Copyright is the right to own intellectual property. Do not let someone make money from your intellectual property and what belongs to you”, he said. Award The organizer of the summit, Stella Sessy Agbley, said the participants would be awarded with certificates, T-shirts, pens and other items. Some of the participants thanked Open Foundation West Africa for the training. “It’s a great pleasure and we urge all our colleagues to take everything we have been taught serious to improve our studies,” they said.

Her hosting skills earned her a spot as the red carpet host for the prestigious ‘Rhythms on the Runway’ at the Osu Castle and Ghana Event Awards. She has quite a number of school tours coming up. Her unique flare and voice do not only make her different but also outstanding as an on-air media personality. Other than TV and radio, Mz Dru documents her life in Ghana on social media, mainly Instagram and YouTube. At times she tries the life of a typical Ghanaian woman selling plantain or waakye on the street, going motor-biking down to candle-making. Mz Dru says her mission is to empower, inspire and motivate others to do the things they are passionate about, whilst living their best lives. The artiste, who currently cleared the air over the misconception about his nationality, has worked on great projects under the scheme’s year under review.
