Interview | Aamir Shehzad Reverse Engineering to Future Proof Brands In the demanding corporate world, effective communication can mean the difference between sealing a deal and missing out on a potential opportunity. Bahrain-based digital marketing agency, Spark Digitus, has been pushing the boundaries ever since inception in 2012. CEO Aamir Shehzad, well-known as a forward thinker with unbounded innovation capital, is a pioneer in the communications industry. As an entrepreneur, he established an innovation process within his tech and creative companies - “a future-proof methodology” - that empowers visionary organizations to be responsive in the face of future digital challenges. During the morning he spent with bizbahrain, he spoke about how he channels innovation and chooses where to expand, and as he talked a clear vision of the road map for Spark Digitus and its creative arm, Tessellate, emerged. For more than a decade now, Aamir Shehzad has been a proponent of building future-proof brands, advocating how to generate a cross-pollination structure which blends tech and creative, to empower visionary brands, elevate organisations and transform companies. The ‘master innovation artist’ as he is often referred to by fellows marketeers, has found the ultimate secret of his art: the key to any industry he chooses. “We are dreamers, doers and specialists in a creative environment that are pushing possibilities through technology and digital,” he says. Given Spark's evolution that is highly connected to Shehzad’s personal background and growth, the agency is currently moving both vertically and horizontally, each direction portending more disruption. The expansion rationale comes from a super-lucky or uncanny confluence - an ability to look back from the future to the client’s needs. “We are the experts of the future. From my first day as a designer, I have chosen to look at the market from a different angle. If you position yourself as a leader at the top of your game and oversee years before the present moment and you start working “backwards” from there, it all becomes obvious. With this reversed engineering in mind, you can visualize a different reality.
