His Highness Shaikh Nasser
expressed his support and enthusiasm
saying, "We are proud to host one
of the most comprehensive defence
exhibitions in the region. We are
especially proud that Lockheed
Martin continue to demonstrate their
support to the Kingdom of Bahrain
by becoming a main sponsor of the
event. A global event of this stature
is not easy to pull together but we
look forward to not just replicating
the success of 2017 but taking it
several steps further to make it an unmissable
event. We also look forward
to initiating important partnerships
and the transfer of ideas, technology
and developments in this vital area at
BIDEC 2019. "
The Middle East Military
Technology Conference (MEMTEC) will
also be held alongside the main event,
and will discuss matters including the
current status and future of military
technology, cyber defence
strategies, the impact of
artificial intelligence on
the functions of armed
forces, the use of military
technology to develop
simulation models of war,
the impact of military
technology on regional
conflicts, and the future
of military industries in
Middle East. MEMTEC
aims to showcase how
global developments
and advancements in
the defence sector will
reshape conflicts in the
Middle East. Once again,
the Bahrain Center for
Strategic, International
and Energy Studies
(DERASAT) is the
Knowledge Partner for
the Conference.
H.E. Dr Shaikh
Abdulla bin Ahmed Al
Khalifa, Chairman of
MEMTEC and Chairman
of DERASAT, spoke
about the importance of
using technology to find
solutions
and create
closer ties, “Bahrain is
a force for peace and
global understanding. We
have understood well the
importance of military
alliances to establish
security and stability in
the world in cooperation
with friendly countries.
The importance of
military technology
in the development of
armed forces and in
responding to threats to
national security as well
as its role in minimising
post-conflict impact is
undoubted. MEMTEC will
examine the challenges
facing this technology.”
BIDEC 2019 will once
again be organised
by Clarion Events, the
largest organiser of defence and
security events in the world and
Faalyat, a Bahrain-based events
agency. BIDEC 2019 offers exhibiting
companies the opportunity to
demonstrate hardware and equipment,
and to be seen on a high profile,
international stage. The high level
conference on the sidelines of BIDEC
has proven to be a powerful platform
to hear key decision makers from the
government, military and defence
sectors, giving unprecedented
opportunities to discuss innovations,
solutions and areas of collaboration.
Over 200 exhibiting companies
are expected to attend in the 2019
show and over 10,000 guests are
expected to visit over the course
of the three-day event. Off-Site
Activities are planned across Bahrain,
including Shooting Displays, Military
Vehicle Demonstrations, Parachute
Demonstrations and Warship Displays.
All will be available to attend via
shuttle buses from the exhibition
centre.
