Why did you choose to locate your business in the
St-Joseph district?
It is close to the 174, home to many locally owned
businesses (not big box or cookie cutter stores), and has
more ‘character’ – the St-Joseph district is truly the heart of
Orléans, so we really wanted to be a part of that.
What do you love most about Orléans?
The people! Sounds cliché, but it’s true. The people are truly
amazing. Fiercely loyal, very supportive, and also, because I
grew up here, it’s home.
What do you think the most important issue facing Orléans
today is?
Jobs. We are a large suburb of over 128,000 people. That’s
the size of Peterborough, and yet, there isn’t one major
employer in the east end. We need to have some type of
industry to set up shop in the east end. It would cut down
on congestion, less commute time means better work/
life balance, and more jobs means more income, which is
great for local businesses. Kanata has IT, Orléans would
be a great location for either a large federal government
department to move here or perhaps with the new health
hub opening, there could be a bigger emphasis on healthcare
services here in the east.
What’s the most useless talent you have?
I’m very good at guessing the time at any point in the day.
The advent of the watch has made this skill significantly less
useful. Also, I am able to fall asleep while getting a tattoo
done.
If someone narrated your life, who would you want to be the
narrator?
Morgan Freeman of course!
What else would you like us to know?
Just how humbled and fortunate I am to be able to do what I
love. Bonus for working with one of my best friends, sharing
a common dream, and making others happy. I hope that our
story, our work ethic, and our perseverance inspires people to
chase their dreams, and to find their inner ‘stray dog’.
