Francisca Serra Ferrandiz
was born in the Marina Alta
town in 1917.
She worked in the then

white grape) industry but
as many in the area did
emigrated to France for economic

All’s well that

A THREE hour rescue operation
for a dog that had
fallen down a well at the
weekend ended happily
after the unnamed pooch
was rescued.
The Labrador sized animal
was stuck 20 metres
by Simon Russell
down the well in the Valencian
town of Quart de Poblet
on Saturday afternoon.
Local firefighters were
called to the scene and after
realising that the dog was
well and truly stuck had to
design a special drum type
contraption.
They eventually managed
to get the frightened animal
into the device, and it was
then extracted, wet and cold
but otherwise unharmed.
