YESC: Service Project Saturday Y member rate: Free Join YESC at UMLY for various service projects including trail maintenance, invasive plant removal, animal care, gardening, landscaping, assistance with programs and events, and more. This is a great way to log volunteer hours while also spending quality time with friends! Drop-off is at 9am behind the Nature Center, and pickup is in the same location at 1pm. Bring a water bottle and dress for the weather. Please bring a lunch, water bottle and shoes/boots that can get wet and dirty in addition to comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Binoculars will be available for loan. Ages: 10-18 102639 Nature Center Classroom 8:30am to 2:30pm Sat, April 4, 2020 YMCA Earth Service Corps Tuesday Y member rate: $20/month Y non-member rate: $20/month The Earth Service Corps program was founded in 2001 and has provided middle and high school students with an engaging environmental education program for over a decade. Core activities include: Wildlife Science and Habitat Restoration, Sustainable Agriculture, Animal Care, and Environmental Career Exploration. Through service projects, field trips, and expeditions, our students become strong, confident and responsible environmental leaders. The group meets each Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, with each week rotating between Environmental presentations and hikes, service project planning, guest speakers, and team-building games. From animal care to birding to hiking, fishing, gardening, camping and more, a variety of programs are available to inspire a love of the environment and nature for children ages three to 12. “Our family has a great time every fall hiking the trails and participating in the Y’s service projects. I want my kids to love the outdoors and all it has to offer.” – YMCA member Our Earth Service Corps program for middle school-aged kids includes Wildlife Science, Habitat Restoration, Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Career Exploration.
