Rachel was a large woman for her time and was known as Rae. When her father
died in Europe at age 35 and her mother was in a sanitarium (TB?), Rae was
raised in a convent. Tanta Lisset Priseman and her son Paul may also have
helped out at this time. All are buried in the Temple Emmanuel Section of
Jewish Waldheim Cemetary.
Bertram Schaffner's information shows Rae's date of birth to be 9/8/1873. This could well be incorrect as he
shows her date of death as 10/4/1873.

Death certificate says place of birth was Rokitzon, Bohemia. Emigrated in 1885 at age 14 to avoid conscription.
His passport was signed by Franz Joseph, Austro-Hungarian Emperor. Adolph became a citizen, sold newspapers
as a young man, became a house painter and loaned ladders to a non-unionized friend, was fined and wouldn't
pay, then went into business in 1919 as Koretz and Condon Paint Store in the 3100 Block of Lincoln Avenue,
then A to Z Paint Store at 3365 North Marshfield. Cause of death chronic myocarditis, myocardial infarcts plus
arterosclerosis and old infarcts of the lungs and kidneys.

In Family Tree Maker's Family Archives Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1538-1940, there was a
reference to the arrival of Adolf Koretz, age 15, in New York in 1883 as noted in Czech Immigration Passenger
Lists: New York 1881-1886 from Leo Baca in Richardson, Texas. The book was purchased from Mr. Baca
(pronounced "Botcha" the Czech way). It showed the arrival was September 22, 1883 on the ship "Elbe" which
sailed from Bremen and Southampton as ship number 1216. The National Archives Microfilm is number
1027040.
I found a site run by the Jewish Genealogical Society with a listing of cemetaries in the Czech Republic
("hhp://www.jewishgen.org/cemetary/czrabrok.htm") which listed the cemetery in present day Rokycany, which
