Jura's diversity of landscapes is the

source of the originality of the wines

that can be enjoyed here: sloping

hillsides, exotic waterfalls, famous

secluded areas, and charming winegrowing

villages such as Château-

Chalon and Arbois form the natural

and architectural heritage of the

region. The unmissable Vin Jaune

('yellow wine'), aged in a barrel under

a film of yeast (the voile), is recognised

as one of the five best wines in the

world. Jura wines also include rounded

reds with sustained aromas and

spicy accents, intense whites, Vin de

Paille, ('straw wine'), sweet wines like

the Macvin and a premium niche of

very high-quality crémants.
