Firestarters 2 is a collection of seven recital pieces for solo piano by composers
from Australia and New Zealand, suitable for performers of approximately Grade
VIII to Diploma-level ability. Each piece has been annotated with suggestions for
performance and interpretation, and all are ideal for student recital or
professional performance.
The volume is accompanied by a CD recording of the works by New Zealand
pianists Emma Sayers and Michael Houstoun. This recording was made possible
through the support of Massey University and the HRL Morrison Music Trust.
Promethean Editions is a contemporary music publishing house, located in
Wellington, New Zealand, specialising in music by emerging and established
composers. Our mission is to bring the fire of new, fresh and exciting
contemporary music to performers and audiences throughout the world.
The Firestarters series comprises attractive and accessible works especially
composed for performance by younger players. Each volume is accompanied by a
CD recording which is intended to help teachers and students over the hurdle of
unfamiliarity so often presented by contemporary music.
