Wastewater
pipeline flows
into place
A 535M wastewater pipeline has
been installed under the Heathcote
River, marking a major milestone
in work on the Lyttelton Harbour
wastewater project.
The pipeline will attach the
Alport Place pump station to the
Heathcote Valley pipeline – signalling
a major step in the project
to connect Lyttelton Harbour’s
wastewater system to the main
Christchurch system.
The installation was completed
early on Sunday, with the pipeline
pulled along Ferry Rd overnight.
The pipeline was drawn
through the tunnel under the
river and Ferry Road roundabout
by a specialist drill rig.
The rig is the only one of its
kind in New Zealand.
The work team will pressure test
the pipe this week to ensure it is
ready for use.
The multi-million dollar project
will put an end to the routine discharge
of treated wastewater into
Lyttelton Harbour.
Contractors working for the
city council had hoped to drill
the tunnel as part of the Lyttelton
wastewater project in January,
however the start date was pushed
out to mid-February.
A PROPOSAL to lease land at
Ngā Puna Wai Sports Hub for a
new multi-court indoor sports
centre is open for community
feedback.
Netsal, a company jointly established
by Mainland Football
Federation and the Christchurch
Netball Centre, wants to develop
and operate a 10-court facility
for community-level sport at
Ngā Puna Wai in Halswell and
is seeking a ground lease from
the city council.
People can have their say on
the lease proposal through the
Have Your Say section of the city
council’s website. The deadline
for submissions is April 6.
There will be a drop-in session
where people can learn more
about the lease proposal at Ngā
Puna Wai on March 17 from
4.30pm to 6pm.
At the end of the submission
period, a hearings panel will
consider the public feedback and
make recommendations to the
city council.
The city council believes
Netsal’s proposed facility is in
keeping with the original vision
of Ngā Puna Wai as a hub for
multiple sports, which is why it
is looking to lease it land.
The proposed site for the
courts is on the south-west
From the moment we met Cameron and his team it was clear
that this experience was going to be different than our previous
experiences with other Real Estate companies. Cameron and his team
were efficient, to the point, and understood our situation straight
away and told us they’re expectations for our property. They then
exceeded these expectations in less than 2 weeks. We should of gone
with the best first time around.
