The meeting took place amid
criticism of the world's richest
countries for not taking cohesive
measures to combat the virus or its
economic impact on the global
population.
In related news, the International
Monetary Fund on Thursday asked
G20 leaders to back a doubling of
its emergency financial capacity to
bolster its response to the
coronavirus pandemic.
IMF Director Kristalina Georgieva
said in a statement to G20 leaders
that the economic downturn and
speed of recovery depend on
containing the pandemic and “the
strength and coordination of our
monetary and fiscal policy
actions” .

He added that supporting
emerging markets and developing
economies, which have been
particularly impacted by the crisis,
is essential.
"We have to act in tandem with the
magnitude of the challenge,"
