We know FNI will oversee construction projects with the samequality standards ODOT employs in delivering quality construction projects for the people of Oklahoma.We appreciate ODOT’s consideration in allowing FNI to support their transportation initiatives.CONSTRUCTABILITY REVIEWSFNI encourages the practice of performing constructability reviews at appropriate stages of design.Reviews will focus on adequacy of details, potential conflicts during construction, existing utilities,construction sequencing, traffic control, appropriate allocation of construction risks and coordinationbetween the contract documents. We have found that often a constructability review of the documentsby a fresh eye can reveal issues overlooked by the design team members, simply because of theircloseness to the project. By conducting the constructability review process, our team can also identifycost-saving measures during design, before the project is bid.PRE-CONSTRUCTION REVIEWFNI will review the contract documents for constructability, sequencing, detours, environmentalconstraints, schedule and traffic management prior to construction. Identifying issues before aproject starts can greatly reduce the impact on construction delays and costs, may avoid majorimpacts to the travelling public, could avoid having to remove new work and will greatly reduceany collateral claims that may arise. In summary, good, detailed preconstruction plan reviews paygreat dividends in the management of a project.SCHEDULE REVIEWThe FNI team understands the importance of maintaining ODOT’s schedule, and our team is structuredto provide the most qualified construction manager/inspectors for each project. FNI has internalschedulers who review and compare current schedules to baseline schedule for each phase of theproject. This allows FNI to provide an independent verification of the schedules to the owner. Weknow that a project team can only be successful when the individuals on the team take personalresponsibility for reaching project objectives. During all phases of the project FNI will facilitatemeetings to include constructability review workshops and pre-activity construction meetings. Thiswill encourage operational and maintenance insights that will allow the designs to incorporateimprovements that address those concerns and will also allow potential construction issues to be raisedin proactive fashion.CLIENT SATISFACTIONMaintaining a dedication to our clients isparamount to our firm’s mission, and we striveto exemplify client satisfaction with everyproject. COMMUNICATIONStrong project communication is key to the FNI team’s ability to keep projects on schedule and within budget.Through effective communication, we can efficiently function as an extension of ODOT’s staff, mobilize neededteam members, and maintain quality and cost control. A sample of the team’s communication tools include:One-Page Reports (brief, written summaries of current and upcoming tasks, project milestones/delivery dates,and any issues – provided weekly, biweekly or monthly); in-person project meetings; and regular e-mail/phonecommunication.QUALITY ASSURANCE /QUALITY CONTROL PROGRAMFNI recognizes that poor attention to quality can result in a poorly designed and constructed project and futureheadaches for ODOT. We are committed to verifying quality at every project milestone via a review of eachtechnical element of the project by experienced personnel within the firm who are not assigned to the project.Our internal Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program is rooted in a system of formal checklists,meticulous analysis, and design and construction excellence to help produce quality deliverables and service forODOT.FNI’S QC PROCESS FLOWCHARTODOT EXPERIENCEProject Manager Paul Green served 33years in various roles at ODOT.
