THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL TRAINING FOR EQUIPMENT OPERATORS
AT LAFARGE CEMENT COMPANY
MANTRAC organized theoretical and practical training for Lafarge
Cement Equipment Operators, on the optimum use of loading (992K) and
earthmoving equipment (777E). Theoretical training included the definition
of occupational safety and the explanation of all warning messages for
this equipment. It also included explaining all control switches inside the
equipment, clarifying all fault lights and translating faults in Arabic to suit
the equipment manager. The theoretical training also included explaining the
correct daily examination of each piece of equipment, all their components
and the way each part operates. It also clarified the CATERPILLAR
recommended oil and filter change schedule and the correct lubrication of
equipment by hours of operation.
The practical training included an explanation of how to deal with soil and
how to correctly load the loader. Also, there was an explanation of the
correct way to install and fix equipment and how to operate it in the field to
move the soil and the consideration of the correct angles for entry during
loading.
Thanks to this training, equipment operator efficiency at Lafarge Cement
Company has improved significantly. Lafarge is a major cement companies
and one of MANTRAC’s largest clients. The objective was to reduce both
the time spent during loading and the number of loads, leading to fuel
consumption efficiency.
