A WORKSHOP
To Enhance Safety Culture for the Maintenance Team in Amreya
In November 2019, MANTRAC branch in Amreya
hosted a workshop to enhance safety culture for
MANTRAC Egypt’s maintenance team.
During the workshop, Katrina Lindal,
CATERPILLAR’s Chief Strategic Advisor, stated
that although Egypt has a large number of
confirmed injuries, but it has excelled in spreading
the culture of recording the injuries transparently,
and that they never hide facts like other areas
would.
Lindal added that the culture of injury recording
is positively reflecting on the development and
implementation of the safety systems. She also
asserted that areas which ignore injury cases
recording will never be able to develop themselves.
The workshop covered the role of health and
safety in controlling the waste of resources and
increasing profitability, even with a consistent
productivity rate. Also, the workshop covered
modern management methods that rely on health
and safety for maximizing profits.
After a theoretical lecture, a session was held to
apply the theoretical ideas in the workshop, and
to do the risk assessment of the maintenance
workshop in a regular working day.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Katrina praised
the participants’ performance and the maintenance
team’s level of safety awareness. She also praised
the safety system at MANTRAC.
