RESIDENTS UNITE
TOSUPPORT THE
VULNERABLE
As the reality of COVID-19
became apparent, many
good people in Beaconsfield
responded by contacting their
neighbours with kind offers of
support. Local charity, Better
Connected Beaconsfield
(BCB), is helping to coordinate
the volunteering activity to
ensure that all residents in
the community are offered
the support they need at this
challenging time.
BCB is now coordinating
over four hundred wonderful
volunteers – known as Buddies:
n Buddies can help with light
shopping for vital supplies,
collecting prescriptions,
friendly phone calls, dog
walking and any other
support that can be
conducted at the doorstep
(they don’t enter resident’s
homes)
n Buddies are checked and
insured by BCB
n BCB connects people in
need with a Buddy who lives
nearby
n The elderly, sick or
vulnerable, and those who
are unable to leave their
house or call on family and
friends, are prioritised for
Buddy assistance
n BCB has set up The
Listening Ear, a telephone
support service, staffed by
26 trained volunteers. It can
be accessed by registering
on the BCB website or
calling 01494 919232
There are various ways
you can help, so please do
consider volunteering with
BCB. Although we have lots of
kind people volunteering now,
we anticipate our volunteers’
circumstances may change,
for example, they may need
to self-isolate or support
members of their own family.
