Mnuchin issued the following statement today on theresumption of the Payroll Protection Program (PPP):“We are pleased that President Trump has signed into law thePaycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act,which provides critical additional funding for American workers andsmall businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic. We want tothank Leader McConnell, Leader Schumer, Speaker Pelosi, andLeader McCarthy for working with us on a bipartisan basis to ensurethat the Paycheck Protection Program is funded so that smallbusinesses can keep hardworking Americans on the payroll.“The Small Business Administration will resume accepting PPPloan applications on Monday, April 27 at 10:30 AM EDT fromapproved lenders on behalf of any eligible borrower. This will ensurethat SBA has properly coded the system to account for changes madeby the legislation.“The PPP has supported more than 1.66 million small businesses andprotected over 30 million jobs for hardworking Americans. With theadditional funds appropriated by Congress, tens of millions ofadditional workers will benefit from this critical relief.“We encourage all approved lenders to process loan applicationspreviously submitted by eligible borrowers and disburse fundsexpeditiously. All eligible borrowers who need these funds shouldwork with an approved lender to apply. Borrowers should carefullyreview PPP regulations and guidance and the certifications requiredto obtain a loan.“The Trump Administration is fully committed toensuring that America’s workers and small businessescontinue to get the resources they need to get through thischallenging time.”PÁGINA 2

That number was as of a weekago.While we mourn the tragic loss of life — and you can’t mourn it anystronger than we’re mourning it — the United States has produceddramatically better health outcomes than any other country, with thepossible exception of Germany. And I think we’re as good or better.On a per capita basis — remember that: On a per capita basis, ourmortality rate is far lower than other nations of Western Europe, with thelone exception of possibly Germany. He knows exactly what he’s doingMontana will begin lifting restrictions on Friday.Ohio, North Dakota, and Idaho have advised nonessentialbusinesses to prepare for a phased openingstarting May 1st.Throughout this crisis, my administration has takenunprecedented actions to rush economic relief toour citizens. As an example, you don’t hear anymore about ventilators.Through the Paycheck Protection Program, we’vealready processed nearly $350 billion to 1.6 millionsmall businesses across the nation to keepAmerican workers on the payroll.As we enter the next stage of our battle, we arecontinuing our relentless effort to destroy the virus.My administration is taking steps to protect highriskcommunities by providing funding for 13,000community health center sites and mobile medicalstations.We’re going to be helping other countries verysoon. We’re going to be helping Mexico. I spokewith the President of Mexico. He’s great. A greatguy. And I told him we’re going to be helping him.They desperately, in Mexico, need ventilators, andI told him we’re going to be helping him verysubstantially. We’re in a position to do that.
