Fans of Reggae, Led Zeppel<strong>in</strong> and live jazz from some lead<strong>in</strong>g names<br />

on the national circuit will have reasons to be cheerful when they<br />

see what <strong>Lichfield</strong> Arts have to offer <strong>in</strong> <strong>February</strong> <strong>2020</strong>.<br />

Fuse festival favourites, Global Reggae Band, will be mak<strong>in</strong>g its long awaited<br />

Guildhall debut on Saturday 8th <strong>February</strong>. Global Reggae Band is a 7-member band<br />

from Birm<strong>in</strong>gham UK. Formed <strong>in</strong> 2009 by Trevor Greaves (aka Bajiman), it was<br />

decided to use the members’ comb<strong>in</strong>ed experience and love of music to create the<br />

group, br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g with it a hybrid sound of Roots & Culture, Ska, Lovers Rock, Dance-<br />

Hall, Motown and a spr<strong>in</strong>kl<strong>in</strong>g of R&B, to make sure the band appeals to any reggae<br />

fan! After many foot-tapp<strong>in</strong>g, tent rais<strong>in</strong>g antics at <strong>Lichfield</strong> Arts Fuse Festival, this will<br />

be the ideal opportunity to see this excellent live band <strong>in</strong> concert, do<strong>in</strong>g what it<br />

does best.<br />

Tickets for an excit<strong>in</strong>g night of Reggae are £12.00, £10.80 for Friends of <strong>Lichfield</strong><br />

Arts and £6.00 for under 16s.<br />

ECM record<strong>in</strong>g, Ian Ballamy, will be br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g his all-star quartet to play at the<br />

Cathedral Hotel on Wednesday <strong>February</strong> 19th. He is an <strong>in</strong>ternationally recognised<br />

saxophonist and composer who has been variously described as urbane, orig<strong>in</strong>al,<br />

freeth<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g and uncompromis<strong>in</strong>g. Listed <strong>in</strong> the BBC’s publication ‘100 Jazz Greats’<br />

between Count Basie and Chet Baker, Ballamy’s work is contemporary with strong<br />

jazz and classical references and yet un-encumbered by formality and tradition. With<br />

more than three decades spent transcend<strong>in</strong>g musical genres and stereotypes, and by<br />

forg<strong>in</strong>g strong and ongo<strong>in</strong>g relationships with musicians around the globe, Ballamy<br />

has worked with many cutt<strong>in</strong>g-edge figures on today’s contemporary Jazz scene.<br />

This will be a great even<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>in</strong>ventive, heartfelt music mak<strong>in</strong>g with<strong>in</strong> the very<br />

<strong>in</strong>timate environs of the Cathedral Hotel. Tickets are £12.00 and £10.00 for<br />

members of <strong>Lichfield</strong> Arts.<br />

Clos<strong>in</strong>g the month will be the very popular Fred Zeppel<strong>in</strong> who will be return<strong>in</strong>g<br />

to rock the Guildhall on Saturday <strong>February</strong> 22nd. Last year marked the band’s 26th<br />

anniversary and, dur<strong>in</strong>g its time together, members have had the honour of Led<br />

Zeppel<strong>in</strong>'s front-man, Robert Plant, attend<strong>in</strong>g<br />

three of their gigs and John Bonham's son,<br />

Jason, jamm<strong>in</strong>g with them on stage! These are<br />

events the band is very proud of. It must surely<br />

also be the best recommendation any band<br />

could receive, and also assure any Led<br />

Zeppel<strong>in</strong> fans apprehensive about see<strong>in</strong>g The<br />

Fredz.<br />
