Bleak life at Bus Terminals in Kampala

Kampala city is the central starting point

for long journey expeditions in Uganda.

People prefer using Buses on such

journies because they are fast enough

and the bus fares are cheaper as compared

to other means of transport.

Privately owned bus companies maintain

the public transport sector but

regulated by the government's Transport

Licensing Board. Being a growing

City,Kampala has limited space and

business men with private land have

sought this oppotunity to construct

private Bus Terminals where Bus operators

can park and load passengers at a

fee. This article brings you life at some of

these Terminals

Qualicel Bus Terminal.

This is the oldest Bus Terminal in

Uganda. initial, it was called ''Baasi za

Baganda''. Today, Qualicel hosts buses

travelling to Lango and Acholi sub

regions in northern Uganda; Bunyoro,

Ankole,Kigezi and Tooro subregions in

Western Uganda; Bugishu,Teso and

Karamoja sub region in Eastern

Uganda and Buganda sub region in

cental uganda.This Terminal was

initially looked at as a state- of -the -art

terminal with organised parking and

secrity fence around it. Even today,it

boasts of well built structures with

shops but the promised orderliness

has since disappeared. It has no waiting

shelters, its washrooms are dirty
