By the mid of this month, May 2020, SPB
students and family members would have
stayed at home for about 2 months. We
are not alone, since almost the rest of
the world had been or is in the middle of
practicing social distancing for quite some
time.
Being confined at home comes with a
lot of challenges which require some
compromises or some changes to
be made. During this time, we need
compassion and caring to the government,
our community, closest people around us
and also to ourselves. During this time,
we have to accept the fact that the world
or our world could change in a flip of a
coin. Here are some quotes that give me
strength during this time:
“Change is inevitable in life. You can either
resist it and potentially get run over by it,
or you can choose to cooperate with it,
adapt to it, and learn how to benefit from it.
When you embrace change, you will begin
to see it as an opportunity for growth.”
(Jack Canfield)
“Progress is impossible without change;
and those who cannot change their minds
cannot change anything.” (George Bernard
Shaw)
At Sekolah Pelita Bangsa, we thrive hard to
adapt with the immense changes we have
to make in the teaching and learning
process while making sure that our
students are learning each day. The staff
and teachers have been awesomely kind,
compassionate and caring, giving a lot of
their personal time, including family time,
to prepare lessons and activities in a new
platform, using new tools and interacting
in a new online environment with students
and parents. It is not easy at all! Kudos to
all amazing staff and teachers of SPB. We
are equally motivated with the support of
our parents who give also their valuable
time to make sure students are online and
on task during home based learning, despite
their own work or personal affairs that they
have to tend. Our highest appreciation to
all involved SPB parents. You are truly our
partners in educating this generation.
Please enjoy our reports on the wonderful
online activities we created in April-May
which students and teachers loved. Take
a look at some of the kindness notes our
students wrote during the Literacy Week
and read some tips on happy, sensible
quarantine.
Let’s continue spreading compassion and
caring.
Let’s finish this academic year with all the
valuable lessons that we all could gain from
this pandemic.
Thank you for keep thriving with us. We are
in this together.
