Born in Senegal in 1963 by a family of griots, known to be the custodians of African
cultural tradition and music. After humanistic studies in his country he moved to Europe.
He lives in Bergamo, where he teaches African percussion since many years. He gives
clinics on the history of traditional African instruments, trying to trace the territorial
boundaries of the populations and is a member of various musical formations including
the Chicago Art Ensemble.

Nasce in Senegal nel 1963 da una famiglia di griot, noti per essere i custodi della
tradizione culturale e musicale africana. Dopo gli studi umanistici nel suo Paese si
trasferisce in Europa. Vive a Bergamo, dove da molti anni insegna percussioni africane.
Fa laboratori sulla storia degli strumenti tradizionali africani, cercando di tracciare i
confini territoriali delle popolazioni ed è membro di varie formazioni musicali tra cui il
Chicago Art Ensemble.
