ASIFA-Hollywood’s third annual lecture<br />

series continued with a very<br />

special event: Walt Disney Animation<br />

master animator Andreas Deja<br />

spoke on the subject of character<br />

animation. Deja, born in Poland<br />

and raised in Germany, started<br />

working at Disney at the age of 20<br />

(he was turned away when he<br />

applied at age 10!). He is responsible<br />

for bringing such characters to<br />

life as Gurki (The Black Cauldron),<br />

Roger Rabbit (Who Framed Roger<br />

Rabbit), King Triton (The Little Mermaid),<br />

Jafar (Aladdin), Gaston<br />

(Beauty and the Beast), Hercules<br />

(Hercules), Scar (The Lion King)<br />

and even Mickey Mouse (Runaway<br />

Brain). The event took place at<br />

7:00 p.m. at Glendale Community<br />

College Auditorium, 1500 North<br />

Verdugo Road in Glendale, California.<br />
