3 Participants and tiers CECED DW Ringtest To grant the participants’ anonymity every lab is referred by a number. The list below is ordered alphabetically and does not correspond to the given numbers. The following manufacturer and testing institutes have taken part in the Ringtest: • Antonio MERLONI (Italian manufacturer) • ARCELIK A.S. (German manufacturer) • CTTN-IREN (French testing institute) • ELCO BRANDT (French manufacturer) • Electrolux Solaro (Italian manufacturer) • Electrolux Therma (Suisse manufacturer) • ITS (British testing institute) • Konsumentverket (Swedish testing institute) • LCIE (French testing institute) • Landesgewerbeanstalt Nürnberg (German testing institute) • MERLONI Elettrodomestici (Italian manufacturer) • MIELE (German manufacturer) • SLG (German testing institute) • TNO (Dutch testing institute) • VDE (German testing institue) • WfK Institut (German testing institute) In the first meeting it was agreed to divide the participants into three tiers according to the European region they reside (North, West, South). See figure 2. It should be noticed though, that the original sequence of participants could not be maintained due to unexpected incidents. The course has been rearranged several times and finally did not separate participants by region anymore. 3.1 Machines The CECED dishwasher ringtest is the first to test two machines against a reference machine. AEG Electrolux therefore agreed to build four similar machines specially for the ringtest, which should perform above the reference machine in all relevant aspects. BSH agreed to build a set of four machines which were intended to perform below the reference level. This way three tiers can be equipped with a high and a low performance machine each, while having one reserve machine of each type. 7
