Let there be light

A hardworking highlighter or
illuminator is perfect to mask the
look of dull or dehydrated skin.
Dab small amounts on top of
your cheekbone – from the apple
of the cheek and up through to
the hairline. This makes skin look
hydrated while the diffused light
decreases the look of fine lines.
Also use small amounts on the inner
corner of the eye to add freshness,
as well as under the brow bone to
help ‘lift’ the eye.
Skin illuminators are a huge
breakthrough in makeup
technology; by reflecting light
and lightening the skin with an
iridescent glow, they make skin look
smoother and younger and hide
skin imperfections. And, of course,
they’re all-important when it comes
to contouring.
Contouring gives the illusion
of more defined contours, a
smaller nose and chin, and higher
cheekbones. We’ve all seen the
“in between” makeup shots of Kim
Kardashian West with light and
dark stripes strategically placed all
over her face and neck. This clever
makeup trick works wonders to
create a more chiseled, defined face
that reflects light beautifully and
gives an air-brushed effect.
It’s all about creating optical
illusions so that it looks like you are
constantly under the best lighting
ever – and, to do this, light and
shade, ie highlighters and bronzers,
will be your BFFs to create a
glamour-girl look.
