Philips has begun productionimmediately, ramping up outputs on anongoing basis with expectations of producing15,000 units per week in April, 2020.Philips has received Emergency UseAuthorization (EUA) for the device for use onlyduring the COVID public emergency. Statusof EUA requests can be found on the FDAwebsite.Designed for mass production by a teamdeeply experienced in respiratory care, the E30ventilator features include:• The ability to use the device both invasivelyand non-invasively;• Quick set-up and simple operations, allowinghealthcare providers with a wide range of skill64
sets to treat and monitor patients in clinical andfield-hospital settings;• The ability to accept high-flow oxygen;• Recommended circuit set-ups contain abacterial/viral filter to minimize exposure forhealthcare providers when used invasively ornoninvasively with example accessories thatmay be used, such as a full-face, non-vented(without integrated leak) mask, or helmet;• On-screen respiratory monitoring to measureand display vital ventilation type parameterssuch as pressure, tidal volume, respiratory rate,leak, and oxygen saturation, enabling cliniciansto evaluate therapy effectiveness;• Visual and audible alarms to providepertinent therapy information to healthcareproviders.”The global situation with the spread ofCOVID-19 is evolving rapidly.
