Cooking
NEW! Cooking Like a Chef: Prep, Create &
Plate with Alba Johnson
11-17 yrs / Sep 10 / $49 + $10 Materials Fee
Tantalize your taste buds and create creative culinary masterpieces! You will learn
all of the correct techniques of preparing food, including properly chopping, adding
ingredients, mixing and pouring. You will prepare healthy and delicious international
cuisine and you will plate your own dishes like real chefs do. Impress your friends and
family when you cook for them with recipes you bring home from this course.

You have heard the lingo. You have seen it on popular TV Shows. Now, take your
cartooning to the next level! “Anime” is defined as a style of animation developed in
Japan that normally includes exaggerated physical features such as large eyes, big
hair, long limbs, and dramatically shaped speech bubbles and speed lines. In this
class, you will develop your own original characters and learn the history of this
Japanese art form. Supplies are included, but bring your own sketchbook if preferred.

NEW! Beginning Painting For Teens

With Cher Compton, work in acrylics or oils to learn or master color mixing, brush
work and how to “build” a painting that is rich with texture and color. The instructor
will do a demonstration painting each week, as well as work with students one-onone.
Students may choose to work in either acrylic or oil. Work from provided
materials or from your own photographs and still life materials. Materials list

Teens with Christine Bowles

Discover the four essential ingredients of great nature photographs and learn more
than a dozen guidelines for seeing and composing images. The second class we'll
meet at Centennial Park where you'll capture one-of-a-kind images. Create a photo
show for the last class where you'll share several of your images with the rest of the

Dance
“From the Beginning” Ballet for Teens
11-17 yrs / 7 wks starting Oct 6 / $89
This beginning level dance class is perfect for a teen who has never taken a ballet
class before or for those who want to review the basics! This class will cover basic
barre exercises; leg, feet and arm positions; and first forms of classic center work.
Students will work on exercises to improve coordination, balance and posture.

During this fast-paced, high energy class, students will focus on choreography and
perfecting skills and hip-hop, popping and breakdancing techniques. With an easy
to follow breakdown of the basic moves, students will learn how to put various steps
together that will allow them to comfortably step on the dance floor at any event.
