Tanya About Town As we tentatively return to going out and about, more and more venues are doing their best to work around social distancing and maintain a safe environment for us to enjoy ourselves and support the City we know and love. It's not been easy for many businesses, especially local independents, so make sure you pay them a visit if you can. Although many restrictions are still in place and of course uncertainty over the feasibility of events taking place, I have put together my pick of what's on over September and October. I still would recommend checking the websites or ringing ahead to ensure an event is still taking place before making a journey. As we enter Autumn, one of the big events on the Nottingham calendar is the Goose Fair, although the intention is to go ahead, at the time of going to press no announcements have been made (30 Sept – 4 Oct). Organisers, we believe, have until six weeks before the event to confirm. This will be the same case for the Winter Wonderland later in the year. Other events scheduled for later this year that are still up in the air are the Nottingham Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival. This has now been put back to November (proposed dates 18-21 November) with tickets hopefully going on sale in October. Again, always worth checking their website for the latest information www.beerfestival.nottinghamcamra. org Events at Papplewick Pumping Station were postponed but are returning with limited numbers. Admission is now by pre-purchased online ticket only via Eventbrite and the attraction's media pages. Steaming Days are due to take place Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 September (Vintage Weekend) and Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 October (1940's Weekend). Many events are still taking place online too, one of these worth taking a look at is a virtual tour of Castle Road. Stroll in a small area of Nottingham to see a famous statue and some notable buildings... and all without leaving your house! A condensed edition of the Mayhem Film Festival will still take place at The Broadway Cinema (15-18 October) showcasing the essence of what makes Mayhem. http://www. mayhemfilmfestival.com And whilst we're talking about cinema, for a socially distanced cinema experience, Bonington Cinema in Arnold has comfy seating for 24 people. Nottingham Street Food Club run various events across Nottingham selling amazing food from all over the world. Holme Pierrepoint is open – although there is no kit or equipment hire there is still plenty to do from the sky trail to mini golf.
