Night Detours on SH1 Southbound<br />
The Christchurch <strong>North</strong>ern Corridor Team are<br />
installing large overheard support structures for<br />
new road signage during the night onSH1 near the<br />
Waimakariri Bridge.<br />
This involves lane and full road closures between<br />
<strong>10</strong>pm and 5am through toTuesday 6October,<br />
affecting Tram Road traffic. Find the full night<br />

Thieves Target Gardens<br />
Council were disappointed to learn of the the of<br />
plants from the garden beds constructed onOxford<br />
Road. This is the second time that these beds have<br />
been targeted and plants stolen.<br />
Grant MacLeod, Greenspace Manager says, “The<br />
idea behind installing these beds is to beautify the<br />
entrance to Rangiora and to have plants stolen is<br />
incredibly frustrating and costly to ratepayers.”<br />
The new garden beds are between Westpark<br />
Boulevard and Charles Upham Drive and were<br />
designed toenhance the area around the new<br />
footpath and kerb and channel on Oxford Road.<br />
While we know that local residents may be<br />
disappointed, we don’t think that this will be planted<br />
out again due to increased costs.<br />
The Council note that from time to time we do get<br />
thes like this and would encourage the public to<br />
report any suspicious behaviour.<br />
Repairs to Skew Bridge complete<br />
Thanks to everyone for your patience as we repaired<br />
Skew Bridge. We’re pleased to say repairs are now<br />
complete and the bridge is open again totwo-lane<br />
traffic.<br />
Rangiora Service Centre Repairs<br />
Underway<br />
Repair work at the Rangiora Service Centre building<br />
has started and this will see anumber of staff move<br />
to temporary locations around the town centre<br />
while work is completed.<br />
Earlier this year, the Council received information<br />
which suggested parts of the upper floor area of<br />
the building was susceptible to earthquake damage<br />
due to the type of flooring used during the 1990s<br />
building extension.<br />
While repairs are underway the public still have full<br />
access toCustomer Services.<br />
The project will be completed infour stages and the<br />
first was completed at the weekend. Contractors<br />
installed abeam in the Council Chambers to<br />
strengthen this space so that staff can use this as<br />
temporary offices.<br />
Other staff will be housed inleased and will rotate<br />
through these spaces for the length ofthe project,<br />
which is due to be completed by May.<br />
The scope of this project has been significantly<br />
reduced with only the necessary repairs and<br />
upgrades being completed. The budget reflects this<br />
with the project costs now ataround $2.5m down<br />
from $4.3m previously estimated.<br />
Twoproperties have been leased for upto12<br />
months and one more permanently to allow for<br />
planned growth.<br />
