WHAT YOU WILL STUDY
Year 1 (AS) – family life, use of technology and
volunteering in French speaking societies. French music,
cinema and heritage. Grammar. You will study ‘Au revoir
les enfants’, a famous French film about two boys in
WW2.
Year 2 (A-Level) – diversity, marginalisation and how
France treats its criminals, political engagement, the role
of trade unions and immigration. We also study a book
‘No et moi’.
HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED
Year 1 (AS) – one listening and reading comprehension
exam, one speaking exam, one essay and translation
exam.
Year 2 (A-Level) – one listening and reading
comprehension exam, one speaking exam, one essay
exam.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE

3 As an addition to A-Level Mathematics it provides a
wider breadth of Mathematics.
3 It is useful if you wish to progress to further study in
Maths, Engineering or any Maths-related course.
3 Enables you to use your talent in Maths and to achieve
your full potential.
WHAT YOU WILL STUDY
In Further Mathematics you will study topics which give
you a breadth and depth to your mathematical
knowledge. The course covers Further Pure, Further
Statistics and Further Mechanics. In Further Pure you will
cover topics such as complex numbers, matrices, proof
and vector geometry. Dimensional analysis, work, energy
and power, momentum and circular motion are covered
in Further Mechanics. Probability, probability
distributions, correlation and linear regression are
covered in Further Statistics.
HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED
Year 1 (AS) – three exams
Year 2 (A-Level) – four exams
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE
THIS COURSE
• Grade 8 or above in GCSE maths

PROGRESSION
Further Mathematics provides good career opportunities.
