PROPER FLY PRESENTATION

IN RuNNING WATER

Nymph

Dry Fly

and

PRESENTATION

At station ‘A’ you’ll find a dry

fly fisherman facing upstream and

casting his fly upstream above his

target. This is proper to allow his

fly to float, without line drag, in a

natural way similar to natures fly

hatches.

The same presentation is done

when using a nymph fly. When

currents carry fly nymph's they do

so in this manner, once the eggs

are hatched.

The key to success when using

dry flies and nymph's is to allow

them to float freely.

Muddler

and

Streamer

PRESENTATION

Though the muddler can be used as a floater during grasshopper season and to

represent certain dry flies, its purpose originally was to imitate the sculpin minnow.

Thus, you see the angler at point ‘B’ position casting cross current and presenting

a weighted muddler fly or streamer fly in a manner that best imitates a swimming

minnow. Retrieve of streamer flies comes cross current or up current similar to the

actions of minnows

or baitfish working

river currents.

Keep in mind, on

occasion, minnows

swim with the current,

most of the time they

work cross current or

at an angle upstream.

ADVENTURE FISHING THE AMERICAS

By Dan gapen, Sr. and ‘Bobber’ Anne

Dan Gapen, Sr. and ‘Bobber’ Anne team up

in writing the 381 page manuscript which

takes the reader from Argentina in the tip of

South America to the Arctic Ocean above

Alaska in North America.

Like so many of the Ol’ Man’s hardback

books this new book isn’t only a fishing

book. Many of the chapters see the reader

visit the local natives of the region. This

well-traveled couple covets fishing, but the

reader learns the customs and the rituals

of the local natives as the authors travel

back into the native’s history. Both authors

immerse the reader into a special wilderness

world where fish species may vary widely in fight

and culinary delight.

Not to be left out the animals encountered in Dan

and Anne’s treks into this old world are brought to life as only Dan Gapen, Sr.

can do. From the saltwater crocodile to the arctic white bear the reader learns

these animal’s habits and present survival status. Fish such as the mighty goliath

grouper, big enough to swallow a human, to the lake sturgeon that pivots

skyward ten feet above river’s surface are brought to light as our authors battle

the world record class fish of North and South America.

Dan Gapen, Sr., The Ol’ Man openly admits his spelling and punctuations are

far from perfect. This he leaves up to

his sidekick ‘Bobber’ Anne who has

edited this new book and written 10

of its chapters. For you lady readers

you obtain a woman’s point of view

in “Adventure Fishing the

Americas” due to ‘Bobber’ Anne’s

input.
