The GDF Endowment
FOR LASD LACROSSE
PROGRAMS
The endowment provides annual funding
for students who participate in the
district’s lacrosse programs. The fund
was created by Tom and Cindi Martin to
ensure there are available funds every
year to support the sport of lacrosse.
In 2019-2020, $423 was distributed to
the high school girls’ team for training
equipment. Unfortunately, the season
was cancelled due to COVID-19. The
team is looking forward to the 2021
season.
As of June 30, 2020, the fair market
value of the fund was $11,858.
The Endowment for
PERFORMING & VISUAL
ARTS PROGRAMS
This fund provides district-wide support
for performing arts (chorus,
instrumental, musical or dramatic
productions) and visual arts
(photography, video, film, painting,
drawing, ceramics or sculpture)
programs. In the 2019-2020 school year,
$663 was distributed to help fund the
purchase of the LAHS Marching Dragons
percussion instruments.
As of June 30, 2020, the fair market
value of the fund was $29,187.
THE LOIS J. HUNTER
Endowment
This endowment provides annual funding to support district-wide science,
music, performing arts and social/emotional health programs. It was created
by David M. Hunter, Jr. in memory of his wife, Lois.
The GDF distributed $420 to help support the purchase of all new instruments
for the percussion section of the LAHS Marching Dragons.
As of June 30, 2020, the fair market value of the fund was $11,858.
THE JOSEPHINE K.
MACHAMER STEELE
Endowment
This endowment provides equal annual
funding for learning support and girls’
basketball programs. It was created by
Don and Joanne Steele in memory
of Don’s mother, who played on the
1930 girls’ team.
During the 2019-2020 school year, the
GDF distributed $398 for the high
school girls’ basketball program. It
funded equipment to help the team
increase strength and conditioning
and improve their offensive skills.
As of June 30, 2019, the fair market
value of the fund was $25,208.

The Endowments
FOR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
AND FOR HEALTH & WELL-BEING
These funds provide district-wide support for academic programs and initiatives
that promote the health and well-being of students and staff. In the 2019-2020
school year, both endowments supported the Link Crew program with a distribution of
$1,599. This program trains a group of juniors and seniors to be Link Leaders who help
first-year students adjust to high school.
As of June 30, 2020, the fair market value of the GDF Endowment for Educational
Programs was $38,244. The fair market value of the GDF Endowment for Health
and Well-Being was $22,065.
