“LIFTING UP LEWISBURG”
CAMPAIGN
Last spring, a grassroots group of Lewisburg
Area School District parents came together
and, in partnership with The Green Dragon
Foundation, began planning a campaign to raise
funds to support LASD’s efforts to educate our
children during the current school year. On June
22, “Lifting Up Lewisburg: A Campaign to
Support Our Schools During this Unique and
Challenging Time” was launched with an initial
goal of $20,000.
Various donors contributed generously to support
this effort. LASD parents Heather Haynos, Rachel
Martine, Emek Ucarer and Lisa Perrone sewed
more than 250 cloth masks which were sold at
The Mercantile, a store in downtown Lewisburg.
They sewed another 250 masks to donate to
Linntown Intermediate School for the students to
use when they came back to school. LASD parent
and alum Jackie Holtzapple Mast ’93, of DEEsigns,
designed and produced special campaign t-shirts.
Proceeds from the sale of masks and t-shirts were
added to the campaign total.

We are happy to announce we achieved our
initial goal of $20,000 early in the campaign! With
several weeks remaining, the committee made
the decision to increase the goal to $30,000 so
that we could provide even greater support for
Lewisburg students and teachers. As of July 31,
a total of $33,811 was raised! Even though the
crowdfunding appeal ended July 31, GDF
continues to fundraise to help meet our students’
and teachers’ additional needs. Funds will be
allocated in the 2020-2021 school year to
support LASD students and teachers.
