Authentic French
restaurant in
the heart of
Nottingham
With plenty of restaurants sadly not
surviving after lock down its great to
know that one of Nottingham's long established
restaurants is still going strong and full every
night. Bistrot Pierre is an authentic French
restaurant in the heart of Nottingham. Housed in
an old bank on Milton Street it is steeped in character and
charm. I have eaten in a number of their restaurants in
Derby, Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon as well as
Nottingham. In fact, I even had my 50th birthday meal in
the private dining room upstairs (a great idea if there is a
few of you). Safe to say I love this place!
Actually, this was the first time I had dined out at Bistrot
Pierre since restaurants have been re-opened. I am glad
to say they have really made it feel a safe space to dine,
I was especially impressed with the new screens which
instantly made it feel safe yet you still felt part of the
busy, buzzy atmosphere.
Although Bistrot Pierre keep regulars happy with timeless
classics like the Brioche starter with mushrooms and
bacon and the melt in the mouth Boeuf Bourguignon,
they also continually introduce new dishes to the menu
keeping it fresh and interesting. They now offer an all
day menu which includes a pre fixe option 2/3 courses
£12.95/£14.95 from 12pm to 6pm. For value for money they
are truly hard to beat. Also, if you want somewhere special
to celebrate Christmas with your friends and family then
Bistrot Pierre is definitely the place
to go, not only for their food but their
beautifully decorated bistrots are as wellknown
as the Christmas John Lewis ad.
Our host was the charming Ricardo
who talked us through the menu with
a knowledge and enthusiasm that
showed he clearly loved his job. We went
for a mix of old favourites and specials.
For our starters we chose deep-fried
brie (amazing!) along with the brioche
(always amazing!!). We also ordered
the delightful honey roasted mini
chorizo's, a dish we order every time; great for sharing.
Mains next. I've got to say my steak- frites was cooked to
perfection, perfectly pink just as I like it. The honeyglazed
pork medallions with Dijon beurre blanc served
with dauphinoise potatoes and French beans was so
tender and very tasty. The dessert menu caused us some
consternation but in a nice way... we chose the cheese a
board and the most delicious chocolate brownie served
with warm chocolate sauce and salted caramel ice cream.
By this point we could hardly move! Bistrot Pierre have got
it bang on. From the complimentary freshly baked French
bread basket with
French butter that
appears on your table
to the amazing wine
menu, these guys
know their stuff. The
food is outstanding,
teamed with a great
atmosphere and
wonderful staff
it is easy to see
why they are still
going strong after
25 years!
