The concept for the O’Donoghues’<br />
River Road project was to down size<br />
following their recently emptied nest and<br />
consideration of their future needs.<br />
Overarching drives for<br />
the design concept<br />
were low house and<br />
section maintenance to allow<br />
for planned periods of absence<br />
plus quality construction using<br />
latest technology and quality<br />
materials. The main living<br />
area was designed to optimise<br />
the view of the adjacent park,<br />
as well as create a single level<br />
easy access living, office and<br />
sleeping areas. The open flow<br />
to outdoor areas for relaxing,<br />
cooking and entertaining was<br />
important as was built in display<br />
areas for art and memorabilia.<br />
To ensure they could<br />
accommodate visitors and<br />
returning family members,<br />
the design provided a separate<br />
upstairs living bathroom and<br />
sleeping area.<br />
The design caters for current<br />
hobby vehicles but allows<br />
for further staged downsize as<br />
the owners needs change and<br />
current hobby activities alter.<br />
The design allows for solar<br />
control, passive environment<br />
principles and further future<br />
proofing energy efficiency<br />
measures. The owners chose<br />
Holcroft Prestige due to their<br />
reputation for quality construction,<br />
excellent client focus and<br />
based on recommendations<br />
from other clients.<br />
