families, who need single vision reading or distance glasses and AAGO Optical Clinic will donate their glasses to them free on behalf of Zambales Lifesaving Inc., their mobile clinic will also visit resorts and local businesses for free checkup, provided there are a reasonable amount of attendees, if you are interested contact liaisons Officer Ms. Marichu on 0966 659 7513 for information. Any other person interested to assist with the scholarship program, may also call Ms. Marichu for full information, cost of sponsoring an unemployed youth is from as low as just P1,000.00, stay out, P3,360.00, stay out, but foods supplied, or P4610.00,stay in with foods supplied. During these difficult times, Zambales Lifesaving Inc. has been working extensively with the South East Asian and Australian Lifesaving organizations via Webinar’s, which has generated a great deal of sharing of information on lifesaving training, techniques and sports, countries who have joined include, Australia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Brunei and the Philippines. During this time also Zambales Lifesaving Inc. has been working with Surf Life Saving New South Wales in organizing online training sessions for their assistant Instructors, to be upgraded to full Instructors, and Instructors also so as to increase their level of expertise. Hopefully this can be implemented shortly so that one things return more to normal and training is again permitted, then they will be better situated to meet the backlog that is building up. Lastly the events committee has been working with Government Officials so as to set dates for the running of the Zambales Lifeguard Challenge and the Nipper’s Carnival ...we should not at all entertain a “Reset” or so called “New Normal”, but strive to return to normal... that were postponed in March, they were very hopeful that these events could still be run within this year, however as our Nipper’s Carnival has young competitors, from 5 years and above, with the current age restrictions, it now very unlikely, early 2021 is looking more realistic. Once permission is granted, we will give as much forward notice as possible so as to prepare, however overseas teams may find travel arrangements still difficult. One brighter note is that the local task force has agreed that with resorts starting to reopen, the need to have currently certified lifeguards on duty is a must and have granted permission for us to perform re-assessments and new training, however strict health protocols must be observed, this has resulted in getting a number of lifeguards up to date, however the biggest problem is that many have no available funds to cover the costs of transportation, health clearances etc that are required. On that note also I would like to pass on the thoughts of our management, instructors and members, that is that we should not at all entertain a “Reset” or so called “New Normal”, but strive to return to normal, so our children and their children can enjoy the freedoms, such as unrestricted travel, sports, parties and gatherings that we were all able to enjoy during our younger years. Let’s all wish for a better and brighter 2021 and the return to life as it should be. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all from all at Zambales Lifesaving Inc. 77
