PEOPLE Living Word United Methodist Church in Manchester recently welcomed Wesly Pinkston, director of youth and young adult ministries, to its staff. Pinkston has over a decade of experience in Next Gen and small group ministries, having most recently served as summer camp director, community groups coordinator and connections coordinator at Messiah Church in Weldon Spring. • • • Rep. Dean Plocher (R-District 89), of Des Peres, has been chosen to serve as the House Majority Floor Leader for the 101st General Assembly. He will replace Rob Vescovo (R-District 112) of Arnold, who was elected to become the next speaker of the house. The majority floor leader is responsible for setting the legislative calendar and determining when legislation will be brought before the entire body for debate. Plocher will begin his service as majority floor leader when the General Assembly convenes on Jan. 6, 2021. • • • Jacques Rojahn has been named senior vice president of marketing and student engagement for Relearnit, an online program management firm. Rojahn will work closely with Relearnit’s university partners to market and recruit for online degree programs. He will also be responsible for overseeing the students’ enrollment process and providing guidance as they work to complete their degrees. With 15 years of experience, prior to joining Relearnit, Rojahn was responsible for recruiting students and fostering partner relationships at 2U, an education management firm. • • • St. Louis-based law firm Lewis Rice has welcomed Luke Jackson as an associate in the firm’s litigation department. Before joining Lewis Rice, Jackson was an associate attorney at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. He graduated Saint Louis University School of Law in 2018 after having served as an electronic warfare specialist in the United States Air Force where he was awarded the Air Force Achievement and National Defense Service medals in recognition of his service. • • • Susan McCourt Baltz, of Ballwin, has been selected as the next executive director of The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. Baltz will start her new role on Monday, Jan. 4. Baltz replaces longtime Executive Director Zoe Linza, who retired in early December after 14 years. Baltz joins the association after serving as director of marketing at The Bar Plan Mutual Insurance Company since 2008. The Insititue specializes in outpatient rehabilitation in a flexible, full-day format for individuals who can benefit from a comprehensive AWARDS The Department of Communication Disorders and Deaf Education at Fontbonne University has been awarded a $1.25 million grant from the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services. The five-year grant will support 32 scholars seeking master’s degrees in early intervention in deaf education or speech-language pathology. • • • The St. Louis Business Journal recently selected Alliance Technology Partners as one of the local Fastest-Growing Companies of 2020. A privately-held, Chesterfield-based information technology and cyber-security firm, the company ranked 31st on the list. The company saw exceptional sales growth from 2017 through 2019. To be considered for recognition on the Business Journal list, companies were required to be local, have a minimum of $1 million in annual revenue, and show growth over the ranking period. Alliance Technology Partners experienced revenue growth of 63.74% over the measured window. EVENTS The West St. Louis Chamber of Commerce hosts its general membership meeting from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 at Forest Hills Country Club, 36 Forest Club Drive in Chesterfield. Admission is $30 for members; $35 for nonmember guests. There is a $5 surcharge for registration less than 48 hours prior to the luncheon and for walk-ins.
